Abstract

The environmental crisis being faced by people is essentially
the impact of human behavior itself. For this reason, this paper examines
the importance of environmental education as a vehicle for
transformation of confidence, understanding, and human ecological
behavior. Education has a significant role in building one’s ecological
awareness. Through the process of environmental education, one can
increase the capacity of cognition, affection and psychomotoric, which
in turn affected the outlook and pattern of human relationship with
nature. Through a process of education, ecological values that are
taught by religion can be internalized to students. The main environmental
education starts from the family and more emphasis on informal
processes. Interaction which is informal and emphasize the substance
will facilitate the establishment of ecological character for learners. In
this context, environment-based education contributes to the future of
human ecology and sustainability
